Establish procedures\/policies for distributing mentorship, training and development opportunities associated with the grant to team members (conferences, publications, networking, etc.).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t
Ensure that bias does not impact the communication of information about and distributing of mentorship, training and development opportunities<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t

Institute a policy\/process with safeguards to ensure individuals with career leaves or family and care responsibilities are not disadvantaged within decision-making processes.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t
Keep a record of who within the team has had the opportunity to participate in which activities versus not.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t
Ensure there are opportunities for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty to develop papers, network and advance their own research with the assistance of more established researchers.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t
Ensure that all team members are doing their equal share of mentoring (as appropriate given the team size)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t
Ensure mentoring activities are valued and recognized<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t
Provide mentors with opportunities to develop competencies in EDI<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t
Discuss potential EDI training activities with team members (ask what type of training may be necessary\/of interest). <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t
Ensure team members are not excluded form informal networking\/mentoring opportunities. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t
Provide and promote training to develop their knowledge of the systemic barriers faced by individuals from underrepresented groups.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\t
Make information available on funding available for travel, child care, accommodation, and other needs<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
