Course guides in Drupal can be used for online instruction. This works best as a simple and clear outline of steps or instructions for students, with links to more details (e.g. videos). H5P learning objects can also be embedded on course guide pages.<\/p>\n\n

MyLearningSpace can be used effectively for asynchronous (self-paced) instruction. You can be included in a course in MyLearningSpace and either include content there or create discussion forums. To do this, contact the instructor and ask them to ask Online Learning to add you as a Librarian.<\/p>\n\n

Go to the course called Library Test Site, and look in the Content Browser (right column). Choose MyLS Training for Liaison Librarians.<\/p>\n\n

Synchronous instruction<\/strong><\/h2>\n\nThe Laurier institutional version of Zoom<\/a> allows for unlimited 1 to 1 meetings, and for meetings of up to 100 people using video (1000 without video). Zoom is easy to use and allows you to share your screen, create polls, and break students into small groups. It can be used as a standalone tool, where you create a meeting and send students the invitation and link. Or, a Zoom meeting can be created from within a MyLearningSpace course.<\/p>\n\n

For asynchronous instruction, you can record a Zoom session and upload it into H5P as an Interactive Video content type to share. Video should be short (15 minutes or less) since H5P can't handle the file sizes of larger videos. Make sure your video has closed captions for accessibility.<\/p>\n\n

For synchronous instruction, make sure you turn on the Live Transcript feature before you start. <\/p>\n\n
For asynchronous instruction, make sure you enable closed captions before you record video. See automatically creating closed captions in Zoom recordings<\/a>. Captions will be created as a separate file you can upload into H5P or Youtube with the video.<\/p>\n\n

The Library has a few licenses for Adobe Captivate software to create the kinds of videos on the Tutorials web page<\/a>.
